| A magnetic field is a mathematical description of the magnetism produced by an electric current or a magnetic material. Magnetism can be due to large electric currents, or due to single electrons around an atom. The magnetic field is a vector quantity with both magnitude and direction, and the SI unit is the Tesla. |
